Prompt:
  • Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?

Collages applying too:
Fort Lewis, CSU, CU, MSU

A place or environment for me transcends a physical place. I am completely content would be when I am completely focused on learning and interacting with a topic that I am completely engaged in. When I am in this mindset, I can work for hours. My mind is 100 percent focused and often when I stop working I find myself rejuvenated and invigorated. I find A topic that intrigues me and then I begin to research and explore it.
Often my interests do not follow the topics studied in school. I love fantasy and role playing, I can spend hours working on my car or researching the most popular drift mods, hitting the gym restores my faith that this week will be a good one. When I was 12 I was inspired by our local renaissance festival to create a group with my friends were we dressed up and created legitimate Dark Age weapons. We then proceeded to explore my 20 acres of property, fighting imaginary monsters. My motivation is contagious; my friends saw my interest and worked together to build a reality of my dream. Working with our hands to create our tools and weapons gave us unique understanding of the value of time and quality of products. We went on to trade our creations among ourselves and eventually even created an entire economic system. Even though my interests do not necessarily follow the Topics discussed in the public school system, I learned more through my own drive and personal investigation than school ever taught me. This type of investigation has taught me valuable research skills that will help my in future assignments.
Other parts of my life that have been positively impacted by my love of persuading interesting ideas include fitness and health, a topic I researched and experimented with until I was able to overcome my personal insecurities. This led me to dance, where I watched countless YouTube videos on Lock and Pop. I memorized over 800 pages of rules on dungeons and dragons so that when I played with my friends I would know exactly the right rule for any given situation. Leaning and working hands-on with my current subject of interest is defiantly my passion. It is how I look at life; as something to be explored.
I have the resolve to overcome my inhibitions and speak or dance in public. I have been told I have a great mind for critical thinking and social problem solving. I work well with others and I am friendly and easy to get along with, I believe my Strength Finders test said “Empathetic”. Often my work is quality over quantity. I find that this method to be the easiest for me; a very focused short portion of time directly focused on a single problem is much easier for me to comprehend and complete rater than multiple subjects.
And this is why I am so very excited for college, I love to learn. The place that makes me feel perfectly content is the acquisition of knowledge. A myriad of different topics drive me to rush through my chores so that I can get back to experimenting, researching and exploring a plethora of different subjects. When I look forward to college, I imagine an environment that will give me the tools, and the framework, to pursue and encourage any of my interests. I know I will be able to deal with any academic challenges because I have already learned I can become a master in whatever topic interests me. I am excited to use college as a platform to grow and step forward into whatever career path I eventually find suits my diverse interests.
